Robots + Penny Reid? Yes!

I can never harp on Penny Reid enough. She is one of my favorite authors and has made me a life long fan. Her Knitting in the City is a must. Its quirky, funny, smart, heartfelt and romantic all wrapped into one. I'm only one of those things but Penny has converted me. Give these books a chance, you won't regret it!

Blurb:

Dating-ish, an all new standalone from the USA Today bestselling Knitting in the City romantic comedy series by Penny Reid is coming May 16th!

'Dating-ish' can be read as a standalone, is a full length 100k word novel, and is book #6 in the Knitting in the City Series.

There are three things you need to know about Marie Harris: 1) She's fed up with online dating, 2) She's so fed up, she's willing to forego the annoyance and consider more creative alternatives, and 3) She knows how to knit.

After the most bizarre and irritating first date in the history of humankind, Marie is looking for an alternative to men. With the help of her friends, she quickly identifies a few possibilities:

Need a cuddle? Use a professional cuddler. Need affirmation? Get yourself a life coach. Need an orgasm? Try orgasm meditation! Why does she need the hassle of a romantic partner when she can meet all her needs with paid services?

But then her irritating date resurfaces. And he's not at all the person she thought he was. And he suggests a different--and crazier--solution to her dilemma . . .

As everyone knows (or will soon come to realize), traditional relations between humans are a thing of the past. Robots are our future. And if robots are our future, then why do we need other people at all?

Review:

"There are no words to describe how much I love penny's writing.I am not a comedy person, in fact most of the time I'd rather be watching something over dramatic or reading a romance that has a million twists and turns. Every once in a while I'll turn to a chick lit book just to realize I do have feelings.

Penny does it all. She writes so that her readers are do not feel they are getting the same formula over again. Each character has their own unique stories, and quirks that fit so seamlessly together. I see myself in every character which makes this series such a great storyline. Penny understands that her readers aren't stupid, they are able to follow along complex nuances in the story, its okay to talk about AI and how they fit into human existence. I find myself enjoying those reflections on humanity and relationships that each story brings about. I also find myself smarter after I read her books, there are so many interesting tidbits and facts that are so random that I would never have learned them otherwise.

I wasn't really excited about this book, I'm not going to lie. There has been so much said about Kat and Dan that I just wanted to hurry up and read this book to move on to theirs. There was such little said about Marie that I really didn't know what to expect. That was SUCH a misconception.

Marie in this story and even in the series is so instrumental to all the girls that when you read about her you just cant help but feel a bit ashamed because you overlooked her. Marie is an independent woman who is frustrated in the dating scene and decides to go on one last date. There she meets Matt (Fiona's neighbor), and the date is a disaster. Matt is a socially awkward genius engineer who wants to make an AI that will replace a human companionship for those who do not have vital relationships (mother, father, lover) in their lives. Needless to say due to events in each others lives their paths cross and they start to have feelings for each other.

Their story touches on the need for the want of a significant other. It is a great look at what happens when you open yourself up to wanting something you are afraid to want. I loved it!

Plus if loved all the other couples, all of them make an appearance, including a very hilarious, very grouchy and very pregnant Janie. :)

Recommendation: READ THIS SERIES.
